Richard ("Stubby") C. Glasen, Sr., age 59, of Sheffield Lake, died Wednesday, January 4, 2006, at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center - West, Lorain, after a very brief illness.
He was born on August 14, 1946 in Lorain and had resided there for most of his life, until he moved to Sheffield Lake in 2003. Richard was a 1966 graduate of Lorain High School.
During High School, he was a student in the Navy ROTC Program. After graduation in 1966, he joined the Navy and served until 1968 during the Vietnam Era.
Richard was employed at Lorain Works US Steel for 30 years in the transportation department as a mobile equipment operator. He retired from there in 2002.
He enjoyed anything dealing with cars. He especially enjoyed working on his 1965 Barracuda, and taking it to various car shows. He also enjoyed spending his time with his grandchildren.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Jodie Lee Glasen, of Lorain, his 2 sons; Richard C. Glasen, Jr. and Kevin M. Glasen, both of Lorain, and his 7 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Barbara (nee Bair) Glasen, in 2001, and his parents; Harry and Margaret (nee Morgan) Glasen.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 7, 2006, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2006, at 12:30 PM in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp where full military honors will be conducted.
