Richard A. McAtee, 42, of Shinnston, West Virginia, and formerly of Lorain, died Friday, September 2, 2005 at his mother's residence while visiting her following a sudden illness.
Born May 26, 1963 in Lorain, he lived her until moving to Shinnston, W. Va, 2 ½ years ago.
He was currently employed in construction in Shinnston, W. Va. Prior to that, while living in Lorain, he worked construction for the Labor Union Local 758.
He enjoyed music and dancing, spending time with his family and friends, collecting porcelain collector's plates with outdoor scenes, wolves and horses.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Kerrie (nee Fields) of Shinnston, W. Va; 2 sons, Richard A. Jr. and Wade Garrett, both of Shinnston, W. Va; a daughter, Kathryn C. McAtee of Shinnston, W. Va; his mother, Anna Marie McAtee (nee Bratek) of Lorain; brothers, James of Haywood, W. Va, Patrick of Kingwood, W. Va, Charles of Lorain, and David of Ashtabula, Ohio; several aunts and uncles, many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews, and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Clyde McAtee in 1998.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9 pm in the Harmer Funeral Home, 300 Pike St., Shinnston, W. Va, 26431, (304) 592-1500 where funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Shinnston Masonic Cemetery, Shinnston, W. Va.
