Richard R. Menke, age 85, of Lorain, died on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at Community Health Partners Hospital, Lorain following a sudden illness.
He was born on March 2, 1925 in Detroit, MI, moving to Lorain in 1986.
Richard attended Wilbur Wright High School.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Lorain.
He enjoyed watching classic movies, making candles and playing cards, especially Solitaire.
Richard is survived by his son, Richard M. Menke, of Lorain, daughter, Susan L. (Michael) Kline, of Lowell, MI, and grandchildren, Stephanie and Joseph Kline,
He was preceded in death by his wife of 14 years, Joyce Louise (nee Wunsche) Menke in 1972, parents, Emil and Lillian (nee Michael) Menke, sister, Eleanor Symons, and brothers, Elmer & Ed Menke.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 22, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 5100 Ashland Avenue, Lorain, Ohio. Rev. Kevin Saylor, pastor will officiate. Burial will be on Monday, May 24, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery, Ann Arbor, MI. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain is handling the arrangements.
