Richard A. "Dick" Slack, age 74, of Sheffield Lake, died on May 1, 2009, at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain.
He was born on May 12, 1934, in Elyria, Ohio, living there, as well as in Amherst and Cleveland, before finally moving to Sheffield Lake in 1988. He is a 1952 graduate of Marion Steele High School. He then served in the United States Navy.
Richard was employed at Lorain Works US Steel for 32 years as an electrician, retiring from there in 1997. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union Local 1104, and a member of the Theosophical Society, Besant Branch.
Richard enjoyed Lapiadary, antique military guns, reading, and history. Richard was a biblical historian, and enjoyed metaphysical studies and geneology.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Barbara Mayerchak (nee Stewart), a brother, Raymond, of Amherst, and a sister, Shirley Troitter, of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his son, Allan, and his parents; Matthew and Clara (nee Bach) Slack.
