Richard Joseph "Rick" Smith, aged 67, of Lorain, Ohio, passed away on October 15th, 2024, in Amherst, Ohio. Born on March 19, 1957, in Lorain, Ohio, Rick was a lifelong resident and an ardent supporter of his community in Sheffield Lake, Ohio.
Rick was known for his love of the outdoors, often found walking trails or visiting Cedar Point. He was a regular at local movie theaters, eager to catch the latest releases. A true sports enthusiast, Rick was an unwavering fan of the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Football, devoting many of his weekends cheering them on. His family and friends will remember him as a devoted son, brother, father, and a soon-to-be cherished "poppy."
Rick is survived by his daughter, Alexis Hendrix; son-in-law, Tyler Hendrix; a grandson; sister, Valorie K. Long; brothers-in-law, Greg Long and Robert Highsmith; aunt, Mary Kay Marsico; four nieces; one nephew; and four great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Darlene Miller (Lucas); step-father, Ralph Miller; brother, M. Timothy Smith; sister, Christine L. Highsmith; and father, Richard (Dick) Smith.
A service to celebrate Rick's life will be held on November 1st, 2024. Family and friends are welcome to gather at 12:30pm, at Cornerstone Bible Fellowship, located at 36300 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville, OH 44039. His legacy of warmth, devotion, and spirited dedication to his passions will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
