Robert "Bob" Goldstein

December 28, 1950 — December 5, 2024

Avon Lake

Bob, age 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, December 5, 2024. He was born and raised in New York City and lived there throughout his career.

After his marriage to Susie (nee Mager) and the arrival of his daughter, Rachel, they made their home in Westport, Connecticut for over 20 years. They moved to Ohio in late 2020 to spend more time with Susie’s family.

Bob worked in the garment industry for many years. He started his career selling women’s dresses to buyers across the country and transitioned to owning his own dress company in later years. Upon retiring from the garment industry, he started consulting with other businesses in and around Connecticut.

As many knew, Bob loved all of his New York sports teams and spent hours analyzing statistics and debating who really was the greatest player of all time. Even though he claimed to love all his sports teams equally, everyone knew his greatest love was baseball. He went to Yankee Fantasy Camp, coached Rachel’s softball team for 10 years, and would go to any baseball game he could, even if it was at Fenway Park.

Bob took yearly trips with his friends to Mohegan Sun and would enjoy any type of concert. He and his family traveled to Europe, Asia, Israel, the Caribbean, and extensively in the US.

He was very generous with his time helping others. He volunteered at food banks and served meals to those in need at Thanksgiving. If anyone needed a helping hand, they knew they could depend on Bob.

Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Grace, his father, Rudy, and his nephew, Matthew. He is survived by his wife, Susie, his daughter, Rachel, his sister, Lynn, husband Jacob and their son Zach.

Bob will be remembered fondly by his extended Mager family, who brought him peace in his final moments; Marie, Sandy, Paul and Lisa. He leaves behind many cousins across the country, his nieces, Sara Mager, Amanda Mager, and Jessica Mager, and friends in every state.

He made a difference to every person he met, whether in Utah, Colorado, Oregon, California, New York, Illinois, Ohio, or Connecticut.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, from 12:00 noon until 2:00pm.
