Robert J. "Sonny" Kapucinski, 78, of Lorain, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2015 at his residence following a short illness.
Born October 17, 1936 in Lorain, he was a live long resident of Lorain.
Robert worked for 30 years at the Lorain Ford Assembly Plant as an Upgrader, retiring in 1995. Prior to this, he worked for the Ohio Turnpike then he owned and operated Kapp's Texaco Gas Station in Lorain during the 1960's.
He was a member of St. John Ukrainian Catholic Church, Lorain, and the United Auto Workers Union Local 425.
Robert was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed boating, bowling, gambling and going to casinos. He also enjoyed going to the park and walking.
Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Donna (nee Shamine); his son, Keith of Lorain; his daughter, Lee Ann (Vicky) Kapucinski of Lorain; grandchildren, Robert and Jennifer; a great grandson, Jacob; and a sister, Elizabeth "Betty" (William "Bud") Ryan of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Theresa (nee Nowicki) Kapucinski.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where a panachida will be held at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 9:30 am in the funeral home followed by Liturgy at 10:00 am at St. John Ukrainian Catholic Church, 3038 Charleston Avenue, Lorain. Very Rev. Canon Steven M. Paliwoda, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
