Ronald A. Schuster, 78, of Lorain, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009 at New Life Hospice Residential Center, Lorain following a lengthy illness.
Born Oct. 30, 1931 in Lorain, he lived here his entire life. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1954 aboard the US Okanogan.
Ronald retired as an electrician in the maintenance dept. from Ford Motor Co., Avon Lake after 24 years of service. Prior to that, he worked at Lorain Works US Steel in maintenance for 22 years.
He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union 425. He enjoyed cycling, fishing, photography and computers.
Surviving is his wife of 49 years, Nancy (nee Engel); son, John Schuster of Lorain; daughters, Dianne (Robert) Brehm of Amherst, Tami (Mark) Goodman of Lorain; step son, Donald (Linda) Findley of Amherst; step daughters, Candace (Glenn) Muskovich of Wakeman; 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; a brother, William of Lorain; a sister, Dorothy Beach of Mesa, AZ; half brothers, George Parker of Lorain, Raymond Parker of St. Petersburg, FL.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald A. Schuster in 2007; parents, William Schuster in 1982 and Dorothy (nee Sheppard) Parker in 1997; a brother, Richard Schuster in 1996.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3 to 7 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 am. Rev. Charles Henkle, OFM Conv. pastor of Church of St. Peter, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp. Military honors will be conducted by the Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter #20.
