Rosaura Garcia (nee Colon), age 61, of Lorain, died Sunday, February 13, 2005 at her daughter's residence while under the care of New Life Hospice, after a lengthy illness.
Born on March 26, 1943 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, she moved to Milwaukee, WI then to Lorain in the 60's.
She most recently attended the House of Praise before going into the nursing home.
She was employed at The Maintenance King for 10 years prior to her illness. She retired in 1996.
She enjoyed collecting frogs and Elvis memorabilia and also loved singing and dancing, she also enjoyed spending weekends with just her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, B.J. Garcia of Lorain, OH, her daughters; Ivette Garcia, Cindy Kocsan, and Ruby Garcia all of Lorain and Rosa Gonzalez of Tampa, Florida, 10 grandchildren, brothers; Charley, Edwin, Raphael, and Pepe, all of New York, Felix and Winyo Colon, both of Puerto Rico, and Justino Colon of Milwaukee, WI, sisters; Amilda Colon of Bronx, NY, Eva Colon Aponte and Nilda Rodriguez, both of Puerto Rico, and Maria Toca Colon of Philadelphia, PA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bienvenido Garcia in 2001, her granddaughter, Nita Milagro Cintron, in 1996, and her parents, Feliciano Colon in 2002 and Maria Ortiz in 1996.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 16, from 2 to 4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. Friends will also be received on Thursday, February 17, from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, where Rev. Robert Kistemaker, from House of Praise International Church, Lorain will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
