Rose Ann Flowers, (nee Smith), age 64, of Lorain, was promoted to glory on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at New Life Hospice Residential Center, following a brief illness.
She was born on September 24, 1944 in Johnstown, PA, living in Lorain since the age of 4.
Rose Ann was the store manager at the Salvation Army Thrift Store, Lorain for over 20 years. For 17 years she was awarded "Manager of the Year" out of all the surrounding thrift stores. Afterwards she was employed at Goodwill, Ohio Extended Care, where she worked in the kitchen and the Arion Factory in Lorain.
She was a member of the Salvation Army, Elyria and a former member of the Lorain Salvation Army. She also was an active member of the Ladies Home League of the Salvation Army.
Rose Ann is survived by her husband of 43 years, Kenneth Walter Flowers, Sr., sons, Kenneth Jr., James "Jimmy", both of Lorain, daughters, Diane Booth, of Lorain, Marlene Schnoering, of Beverly, OH and Martha Valentine, of Athens, Ohio, 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and brother, Richard Smith, of Sheffield Lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George R. Smith and Nora Mary (nee Elliott) Smith, brothers, Victor R. Smith, William G. Smith and Robert E. Smith, and her sister Donna LaRue Forrider.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 5-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.. Captains Sherry and Paul Pelletier, of the Salvation Army, Elyria, will conduct the services. Burial will be on Thursday at Willow Island Cemetery, Belmont, West Virginia.
