Rose L. Hodson

Rose L. Hodson (nee Lewchak), age 93, of Lorain, died on Thursday, March 19, 2009, at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain.


She was born on August 24, 1915 in Lorain, where she has lived her entire life. She was a 1934 graduate of Lorain High School and continued her education with Alexander Hamilton Home courses in Business Management.


She was a Production and Inventory Control Supervisor at TRW, retiring in 1978 after 31 years of service.


Rose was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church and St. Mary's Church Sisterhood. She was a member of the church choir for many years in her youth.


She is survived by her sister, Tessie Bashak, of Elyria, a niece, Kathleen Bashak, a nephew, Michael Bashak, great niece, Michele Cawley, great nephews; William and Bradley Bashak, several great-great nieces and great-great nephews. Rose is also survived by her dear friend, who was like a daughter, Michele (Greg) Diedrick, of Amherst.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, in 1953, and infant son, Joseph Alex, in 1942, her parents, Alex and Anna Lewchak, her grandmother, Rose, in 1950, a brother, Andrew, in 1915, sister, Mary Emery, in 1996, nephews; Alfred and Daniel Emery, and great nephew, Michael Emery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 22, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where Parastas will be held at 3:00 pm. Friends will also be received on Monday, from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 11:00 am, at Ss. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, 2238 East 32nd Street, Lorain, Ohio. The Very Rev. Archpriest Basil Stoyka, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
