Rose Rigo

Rose Marie Rigo (nee Palagyi), age 90, of Lorain, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Kingston of Vermilion following a lengthy illness.

Born July 26, 1933 to Steve and Rose (nee Toth) Palagyi in Lorain, Rose lived in the Lorain area her entire life.  She attended Clearview High School and later worked for McGarvey’s as a kitchen manager for 13 years until retiring in 1985.  Rose was a member of St. Ladislaus before its closing and then Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Lorain.    She was also active with the Virgin Mary Society as well as the YMCA in Lorain and was a member of the Hungarian Council.

She enjoyed cooking and baking as well as caring for her family.

Surviving are her children, Darlene (Forrest) Plants, Alan (Elaine) Rigo, Anthony (Barbara) Rigo and Frank Rigo; many grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as one great-great grandchild; brother, Joseph Palagyi and her sister, Ann Kish.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Rigo II; daughter, Rose Bennington; both of her parents as well as her brothers, Steve Vitai, John Palagyi and George Palagyi.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 15 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Dovin Funeral & Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
