Roxanna L. Butcher, age 72, of Elyria, passed away Friday, January 28, 2022, after a very short illness.
Roxanna was born June 9, 1949, the first child born to Leo L. and Elsie H. Butcher. She has made Elyria her home for the last 20 years.
Roxanna graduated from Clearview High School and received an associate degree from LCCC in Social Work and Women’s Studies. She was employed at Ohio Department of Jobs and Human Services until her retirement in 2016. Roxanna loved sewing and crocheting, reading and made mittens and hats for the Giving Tree at Christmas time.
Roxanna was a lifetime member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church.
Roxanna was preceded in death by her first husband, Lee R. Wooten and second husband, Rodney L. Butcher; parents, Leo L. Butcher, Sr. and Elsie H. (nee Erler) Butcher; a brother, Jamie L. Butcher; and a sister, Bessie D. Butcher.
She is survived by her daughter, Sheryl L. Wooten; grandson, Justin Hicks; son, Lee R. Wooten, Jr.; sisters, Dolly Justice and Cindy Moore; and brothers, Leo Butcher, Clarence Butcher and John Butcher.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday starting at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 2949 West River Road, N., Elyria, Oh. A life celebration service will begin at 12:00 p.m. There will be a light dinner directly after the services.
Roxanna will be buried privately in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, following the celebration service.
The Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain is handling the arrangements.
