Russell R. Ingrassia

Russell R. Ingrassia, age 90, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center, following a short illness.
Born September 18, 1926 in Cleveland, he came to Lorain in the late 1950's. Russell served in the US Army during World War II, having served in the Philippine Islands with the Recovered Personnel Division, Special Troops.
Russell began working in the construction trade remodeling homes for 10 years. He then worked as a general contractor for 50 years, retiring 28 years ago.
He was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church, Elyria and the Ely Masonic Lodge No. 424 of Vermilion. Russell loved playing the drums, deep sea fishing for blue fin tuna in Nova Scotia, and lawn bowling having played on a league for many years.
Surviving is his wife of 11 years, Barbara (nee Raesler); daughters, Nancy Bacher of Lorain and Julie Schneider of Vermilion; 10 grandchildren; and a sister, Wanieta DeSimoni of Parma.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor in 2002; two daughters, a brother, Charles; and sisters, Betty Fedak and Rose DeLuca.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. The family will also receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 pm until the time of funeral services at 2:00 pm. Rev. Chris LaLonde, pastor of Cornerstone United Methodist Church will officiate. Following the funeral services, the family will attend the private burial in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst, Twp. The Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20 will conduct military honors.
