Ruth L. Hurt

Ruth Lee Preston Hurt, 88, of Port Clinton, Ohio, passed away peacefully October 20th, 2018 at Towne Center extended care facility in Avon Lake, Ohio while under the care of Mercy New Life Hospice.

Born November 7, 1929, in Fairmont, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late William and Pearl Lawrence Preston.

She was a homemaker who loved her family. She had many loves including baking, gardening, canning, sewing, crocheting, crossword puzzles and her cocker spaniels. She could always be found with her crochet bag, crocheting the next gift made with love for family and friends. She was a devout Jehovah's Witness.

She is survived by her children, Barbara Patton of Sheffield Lake, John Hurt III of Spencer, daughter in law, Shirley Hurt of Lorain, Kenneth (Bev) Hurt of Redfield, IA, William "Tommy" Hurt of Sandusky, Adonna (Wes) Burnette of Jefferson, MD, Charles "Chuck" (Julie) Hurt of Port Clinton, Virginia "Ginger" (Jack) Lenz of Oak Harbor, Donald "Brian" (Candee) Hurt of Lakeside Marblehead and Nada Hedquist of Jefferson, MD. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild, as well as sisters, Louise Hillberry and Eloise Fahrner and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband John Hurt Jr.; siblings, Leroy, Walter, Robert, John Preston and Lillian Preston King; children, Robin Hurt, James Hurt and Mark Hurt; grandchild, Robin Hurt and her son in law Lance Hedquist.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 12:00 pm until of memorial services at 1:00 pm in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 7701 W. State Route 163, Oak Harbor, Ohio. The Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain is handling the arrangements.

Ruth's wishes were to be cremated. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Mercy New Life Hospice at 3500 Kolbe Rd, Lorain, Ohio 44035.
