Samuel Lauricia, age 73, of Lorain, died on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at EMH Regional Medical Center, Elyria, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on July 2, 1936 in Normantown, PA, living most of his life in Lorain.
Samuel was employed as a foreman in the sewer dept. for the City of Lorain, retiring in 2000.
He also umpired for over 30 years in Lorain and surrounding counties, for men's fast and slow pitch softball.
He was a member of the Lormet Credit Union, where he was on the Board of Directors for many years.
Samuel enjoyed sports, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Indians.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia (nee Senner) of Lorain, sons, Anthony (Deborah) of Lorain, Scott, of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, daughters, Terri (David) Sprouse and Brenda (Sue) Lauricia, of Lorain, 6 granddaughters, 1 great granddaughter, 2 great grandsons, and 6 sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfonso and Jenny (Dehandro) Lauricia, and sister, Marion Whitacre.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 20, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am, in the funeral home. Rev. Greg Sellers, Pastor of Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
