Sean Robert Donovan, age 36, of Lorain and formerly of Ohio City, died on Thursday, October 5, 2006 at Western Reserve Hospice House, Euclid.
Sean was born on August 18, 1970 in Lorain. He lived in Lorain for 22 years until moving to Ohio City, where he resided for the last 14 years. He graduated from Lorain High School.
He worked at Ford Motor Company, Avon Lake plant since 1992. He was also the owner of Metro Joe's Coffee Shop in Ohio City and Lakewood.
He was a member of St. Anthony's Church, Lorain and St. Patrick's Church, Cleveland, and a former member of St. Mary's in Wakeman. Volunteering his time, he was active with The Cleveland Food Bank and Ohio City Urban Development and Alcoholics Anonymous in Cleveland. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 2000, Sheffield. He enjoyed traveling, old house restoration, discussing politics and devoting his time to his nieces and nephews, especially to take them to Geauga Lake. He especially enjoyed devoting his time to the community and his neighbors.
He is survived by his parents, Jerry and Evelyn (nee Nicol) Donovan, of Lorain; his brothers, Paul, of Elyria and Michael of Lorain; sisters, Mary Springowski, of Lorain, Coleen Donovan, of Dearborn, MI and Gabrielle Donovan, of Lorain; his companion, Tom Ferrara, of Kent, 18 nieces and nephews and many aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jerry and Mary Donovan, maternal grandparents, David and Elizabeth Nicol, and several aunts and uncles.
The family will receive friends Sunday, October 8, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where closing prayers will be held at 9:30 a.m. the following morning. A funeral mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua, Lorain. The Rev. Fr. Joseph West will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
