Shirl E. Reynolds, age 69, of Lorain, passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2012, at his home, after a brief illness.
He was born on March 22, 1943, in Milton, West Virginia, but lived most of his life in Lorain. Shirl served in the United States Army from 1960 till 1963. He worked as a welder for Ford Motor Co, for almost 32 years, and retired from Ohio Truck Division in 1999. Prior to working at Ford, he was employed at Fruehauf Trailer Co. He was a member of the American Legion Post 30, the VFW Sheffield Lake Post 8686, and the AMVETS Post 55.
Shirl enjoyed fishing and hunting, and always loved his time spent with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia A. (nee Archie), his sons; Jeffrey E. (Nancy) Reynolds, of Goldsboro, NC and Steven A. (Rose) Reynolds, of Garrett, IN, his 3 grandchildren; Devin, Bradley, and Kaleb, brothers; Euel (Pat) Reynolds, of S. Amherst and Ricky Reynolds, of Lorain, and a sister, Betty (Marshall) Bonecutter, of Point Pleasant, WV.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Euel C. and Freda (nee Price) Reynolds, and brothers; David and Roger.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 28, from 4-8 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be held on Monday, at 11:00 am. The Rev. Wallace Justice, Pastor of Christian Life Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, with full military honors conducted by the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard.
