Shirley A. Klingman (nee McGinnis), 70, of Norwalk, passed away Friday, April 17, 2015 at Laurels of New London following a lengthy illness.
Born January 17, 1945 in Amherst, she moved to Greenwich in 2003 then to Norwalk in 2008.
Shirley graduated from Firelands High School in 1963. She also graduated from cosmetology School, home health school, and studied floral design and was certified in reflexology. She graduated from LCCC with a nursing degree and became certified and instructed CPR and basic first aid.
She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for Metro Health Medical Center for 20 years, retiring in 2003. Prior to this she worked for the Lorain County Board of Mental Retardation.
Surviving are her sons, Thurman of New London, and Brian of Norwalk; grandsons, Jeremiah and Daniel; bothers, Russell McGinnis of Jackson, MI, and Gary McGinnis of Jacksonville, FL; and a sister, Marjorie March of Vermilion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett Harvey and Frances Lucille (nee Smith) McGinnis; sisters, Betty Smith, Janet Newton and Margaret O'Niel.
Private services for the family were held. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, handled the arrangements.
