Stanley E. "Stan" Pliszka

Stanley E. "Stan" Pliszka, age 75 of Sheffield Village, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake following a lengthy illness.
Born May 16, 1942 in Lorain, he was a lifelong resident of Sheffield Village. He graduated from Brookside High School in 1960 and attended Lorain Technical College for two years. He also served in the National Guard.
Stan worked 30 years as an electrician for Ohio Edison, retiring in 1995. He was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Parish in Sheffield Village and the Utility Workers Union of America.
Stan was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, trapping and fishing. With his love for the outdoors, Stan loved searching for ancient Indian artifacts. As a member of the Ohio Archeological Society, he had many of his finding published with the Society. Stan also loved race car driving, boating and riding his Harley. Since his father died at an early age, Stan filled the roll as father for his family. He loved spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews who he cherished as his own grandchildren.
Surviving is his mother, Louise Pliszka-Nichols of Sheffield Village; sisters, Theresa (Keith) Andorka of Sheffield Village and Patty (Ray) Pauzuolis of Miami, Florida; nieces, Paula (Brian) Clark, Maggie Andorka, Julie Andorka, Savannah Pliszka, and Kelly (Rick) Caudill; nephews, Nic (Gisela) Pauzuolis and Daniel Pliszka; great nieces, Faye Clark, Leann Clark and Liliana Pauzuolis; great nephew, Ashton Pauzuolis; and a great-great nephew, Jackson Vroman; his good friend and hunting buddy, Mike Hill and long-time friend, Gene Fenik.
He was preceded in death by his father, John in 1960; his brothers, John Jr. in 1973 and Walter in 1994; and his nieces, Lori Ann Pliszka in 1973 and Betsy Green in 2008.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be Wednesday at 9:30 am followed by mass at 10:00 am at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 1878 Abbe Road, Sheffield Village.
