Stanley "Stan" Thomas, age 84, of Lorain, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2012, surrounded by his loving family and friends, at his home, following a lengthy illness. He was under the care of Grace Hospice.
He was born on August 15, 1927, in Lorain, where he lived his entire life. He attended Lorain schools. Stan was employed for a few years at Home Dairy Co., and then went to work for US Steel for a number of years, before retiring from there in 1972. He is a member of the United Steelworkers Union Local #1104. Stan attended St. George Serbian Orthodox Church.
Stan enjoyed sports, especially watching the Cleveland teams and Ohio State. He enjoyed walking, and would always be seen walking all around town. He was a very easy-going, friendly-type of guy, and made many friends.
Stan is survived by his brother, Emil, who looked after him and was his care giver for the past 6 years, and a sister.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Eli and Anna (nee Belancic), 4 sisters, and 3 brothers.
The family will receive friends on Thurs., April 5, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where a Parastas will be held at 7:00 pm. His funeral service will be Fri., at 11:00 am, also in the funeral home. The Rev. Fr. Aleksa Pavichevich, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
