Stanley Zadekas, age 90, of Lorain, died on Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at Hearthstone at Lorain, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on February 20, 1914 in Pittsburgh, PA.
Stanley was the owner/operator of Stanley and Son Garden Center, Lorain for 46 years, retiring in 2002. Prior to this he was employed at Lorain Works US Steel.
He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society.
He enjoyed bowling and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years: Helen (nee Uszak), brother: Ben of Elyria and daughter-in-law: Virginia Ginger Zadekas of Lorain and granddaughter: Sheila Zadekas of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his son: James J. Zadekas in 2003, parents: John and Anna (nee Margevic) Zadekas, sisters: Ann Ilcisko in 1972, Frances R. Sipkovsky in 1980 and brothers: Frank in 1969, Anthony in 1976, and Jake.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The family will also receive friends on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, E. 28th Street and Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. Kevin Shemuga, pastor, and Mr. William Schill, deacon, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
