Stefania Rewak (nee Stanchak), age 95, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2020 at her residence in Amherst, Ohio.
Born October 23, 1925 to Michael and Eufrozyna Stanchak in Przyslup, Poland, Stefania immigrated to Lorain in 1960 with her family. There she worked as a housekeeper for St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain and later as a seamstress with Joseph and Feiss in Elyria. A devoted member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, she volunteered for many church functions, including bingo and making pyrohi.
She enjoyed sewing, baking and was known for her famous homemade Ukrainian pyrohi.
Surviving are her sons, Michael Rewak, John Rewak, and Pete Rewak; grandsons, Michael, Christopher, Joseph, John, Logan, granddaughter, Amanda (Michael); great granddaughter, Maya as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by both her parents; brothers, John Stanchak, Steve Stanchak, Dimitri “Jim” Stanchak, William Stanchak and Pete Stanchak as well as her sister, Anna Stanchak.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 15 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of Parastas at 7:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral & Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will held in the funeral home Wednesday, December 16 at 9:00 a.m. followed by Divine Liturgy at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 3038 Charleston Ave, Lorain. Very Rev. Canon Steven M. Paliwoda will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
