Stephanie Stanchak, age 51, of Sheffield Township, died on Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at Good Samaritan Skilled Nursing Center, Avon, following a lengthy illness.
She was born on February 22, 1954 in Lorain, and has lived here her entire life.
She was a 1972 graduate of Clearview High School.
For 8 years, she had provided home daycare at her residence. Prior to this she worked as a gas station attendant at Citco Gas Station. Stephanie also worked as a nurse's aid at several nursing homes, including Amherst Manor, Bradley Manor and Ohio Extended Care Center.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Lorain.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, making crafts, reading mysteries and was an avid Cleveland Indians Fan.
She is survived by her parents: James and Roberta (nee Zech) Stanchak, of Sheffield Township, brothers: James of Lorain, Robert of Sheffield Twp., and Donald of Hilton Head, SC, a sister: Patricia Koziura of Sheffield Twp., and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother Michael in 1966, paternal grandparents: Michael and Rose (nee Smedia) Stanchak, and maternal grandparents: Walter and Alma (nee Reising) Zech.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 24, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain where panachida will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a 10:00 a.m. Divine Liturgy at St. John Ukrainian Catholic Church, 3038 Charleston Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. Steven M. Paliwoda, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
