Stephen (Steve) M. Clark, age 59, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of Lorain, died Saturday, April 8, 2006 while in the care of Hospice of Dayton, after a long illness.
He was born on November 18, 1946 in Akron, moving to Lorain for most of his childhood years. After graduating in 1964 from Elyria Catholic High School, he moved to Columbus to attend Ohio State University. Steve received a bachelor's degree in Astronautical and Aeronautical Engineering and also his masters degree in Engineering. Following graduation from college he had then resided in; Dayton, Ohio, Belgium, Europe, and finally Beavercreek, Ohio.
He was employed at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, as an engineer for 31 years until retiring from there in 2005. While living in Belgium, Steve had also worked for an Air Force Base there. Previous to that, he would return to Lorain during his summer breaks from college to work at Lorain's US Steel plant.
While living in Lorain, Steve was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Dayton Cycle Club and the Kittyhawk Ski Club, both based out of Dayton. His hobbies included; skiing, bicycling, reading, and cooking. He was very passionate about his work, and loved learning new things all the time. He loved people, and was an excellent "history buff", photographer, and just enjoyed life in general.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Mary Ann (nee Tardio), of Dayton, Ohio, his daughter, Sarah Clark, of Columbus, Ohio, his mother, Virginia A. Clark/Jones (nee Manfrin), of Lorain, his 4 brothers; Thomas, of Avon Lake, Michael, of Cortland, Ohio, Anthony, of Spokane, WA, and Paul, of Chandler, AZ, and his 2 sisters; Louise Nowicki, of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and Theresa Pahl, of Elyria.
Preceding him in death was his father Homer Iowa Clark, in 1978.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April11, 2006 from 6-9 p.m. at the Dovin Funeral Home 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by mass at 11:00 a.m. at The Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. The Rev. Fr. Chuck Henkle will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
