Steven "Steve" Alves

Steven “Steve” R. Alves, age 66, of Lorain, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at University Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio following a brief illness.

Born July 26, 1956 in Fall River, MA to John and Clara (nee Simmons) Alves, Steven came to Lorain in the early1970s.  He owned his own business, Steve’s Auto in Lorain where he was a great mechanic.

He enjoyed being silly, camping, having cookouts, grilling as well as working on cars.  What he loved the most was spending time with his family.  His favorite quote was “Mind over matter – if it’s not mine, it don’t matter.”

Surviving is his wife of 47 years, Annie (nee Jones) Alves; children, Tanya Alves, Jessica (Jose) Cortes and Steven Alves II; grandchildren, Maritsa, Anthony, Calesha, Bobby, Raven, Nathaniel, Nyko, Sabrina, Sara, Branden and Selena; 17 great grandchildren; siblings, Joseph (Gail) Alves, John (Gladys) Alves, Edward (Jenny) Alves and Marion (Freddie) Pagan and his loving sister-in-law, Wendy Alves as well as many nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Stevie..

He was preceded in death by both of his parents, John Alves and Clara Jennings; stepfather, Lester Jennings as well as his siblings, Robert Alves and Marie Church.
