Thomas S. Bates, 51, of Lorain, died suddenly of natural causes on Friday, December 19, 2008 at his residence.
Born Oct. 18, 1957 in Lorain, Thomas was a life long resident of the area. He graduated from Admiral King High School in 1975 and then from Kent State University in 1982 with a bachelors degree in business administration. He enjoyed playing his guitar and music.
Surviving is his mother, Mary (nee Springowski) of Lorain; a sister, Karen Sue (Gary) Taylor of Bath, Ohio; a nephew, Craig Taylor of Akron; and a niece, Lindsay (Thom) Tadsen of Akron.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wallace W. Bates Jr. in 1990; and a sister, Kathryn Bates in 1963.
There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11:00 am at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp. Rev. Dale Warrick, pastor of Cornerstone United Methodist Church will officiate. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, is handling the arrangements.
