Thomas L. "Larry" Connell, age 71, of Lorain, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain.
He was born on February 8, 1945 in Lorain, where he lived his entire life. He was a 1962 graduate of St. Mary High School. Larry proudly served in the United States Air Force and was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of St. John and the Firefighters Union for retirees. He was employed by the City of Lorain Fire Department for 15 years before retiring in 1987. In his free time, Larry enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling, and sports in general. He always looked forward to playing softball for the Fire Department too.
He is survived by his son, Scott Connell, of Lorain, daughter, Tracy Addis, of Lorain, 6 grandchildren; Derek Connell, Corbin Vance-Connell, David Addis, Jr., Miranda Addis, Hannah Addis, and Jacob Addis, 2 great grandchildren; Greyson Connell and Jaxson Addis, and 3 sisters; Linda Camera, of Amherst, Kathy Waseleski, of Sheffield Lake, and Kristine Connell, of Lorain.
Thomas was preceded in death by his loving wife of 41 years, Sue A. Connell (nee Bond), in 2005, and his parents; Thomas L. and Lily (nee Toman) Connell.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 20, from 4-8 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where his funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am. Rev. Fr. Richard E. Hudak, Pastor of St. Anthony Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
