Thomas M. Deichler, age 78, of Birmingham, died Thursday, October 24, 2024, while under the care of Stein Hospice of the Western Reserve following a lengthy illness.
Born November 1, 1945, in Monessen, PA, he moved to South Amherst as a child and remained a Lorain County resident. He was a 1964 graduate of South Amherst High School.
Thomas was a dedicated entrepreneur, owning and operating Deichler Tire Etc. in Oberlin and South Amherst for 20 years, until his retirement in 2007.
Thom was a man of faith, a member of The Sanctuary at the First Congregational Church of South Amherst. He was also a passionate Pittsburgh Steelers and Boston Celtics fan.
Surviving is his loving wife of 47 years, Linda (nee Ruth); beloved children, Steven (Nicole), Stacie (Bill) Whitacre, Desiree (Joe) Feigi, Ariana Deichler, Brandee Gamel, and Heather Helmer; and cherished grandchildren, Michael (Emma) Whitacre, Christine Whitacre, Reagan Feigi, Olivia Gauman, Jenna Whitacre, and Cory Whitacre.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Margaret (nee Nutter) Deichler.
The family is deeply grateful for the service that Stein Hospice provided to Thom.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 2nd from 11:00 am until the time of the memorial service at noon at The Sanctuary at the First Congregational Church of South Amherst, 114 W. Main Street, South Amherst. Fellowship will continue after the memorial in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested contributions be made to First Congregational Church of South Amherst,114 W. Main St., South Amherst, Ohio 44001.
