Thomas D. "Tom" Meadows, age 83 of Avon, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 8th, 2023, at University Hospital Elyria Medical Center following a bout of pneumonia.
Born March 4th, 1940, in Chattaroy, West Virginia, to Herbert and Bertha (nee Wright) Meadows, Tom graduated from Chattaroy High School in 1958. Following high school, he served as an intelligence officer in the US Navy aboard the USS Springfield. After the service, he lived in Columbus for two years before moving to Lorain in 1965 and then to Avon in 2001.
Tom began working at the Lorain Ford Assembly plant, transferring to the Avon plant before retiring in 2000 after 35 years of service. He was a Master Mason of the Black River Masonic Lodge #786 F&AM of Ohio, AMVETS Post 109, VFW Post 8686, and the American Legion Post 118. He was also a member of the UAW Local 2000, where he had served as a union representative for over 20 years.
Tom loved sports, NASCAR, playing the lottery, and hunting. He also was a huge Star Trek fan.
Surviving is his wife of 44 years, Claudia Meadows (nee Lincicome); children, Sina (Billy) Dryden, T.J., Joshua, and Travis (Henna Glory) Meadows; eleven grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, James Meadows and sister, Betty Blackburn.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Liz Meadows; his parents; brothers, Leroy Meadows and Frank Meadows; and his sisters, Delores Thacker, Jean Ball, and Eileen Wright.
