Thomas W. Pando, age 86, of Lorain, passed on Monday, December 08, 2014 at University Hospital, Elyria Medical Center, following a short illness.
He was born on May 27, 1928 in Avon, moving from Sheffield Village to Lorain in 1955.
Tom served in the United States Navy as a Merchant Marine and was in the Coast Guard Reserve.
He was employed as a bridge operator for Norfolk & Western Railroad for 32 years, retiring in 1977.
He enjoyed fishing, playing the organ, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons, Thomas Jr. (Vicki) of Lorain, Robert (Karen) of Amherst; a daughter, Diane (Wayne) Long of Kentucky; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; and his brother, Lenin (Darlene) of Sheffield Village.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Lillian M. Pando in 2013; parents, James and Rachel (nee Doty) Pando; and brothers, Carl, Boris and Robert.
Private services with the Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20 Honor Guard conducted military honors at Ridge Hill Memorial Park. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain handled the arrangements. On line condolences may be made to
