Thomas C. Starcher

Thomas C. Starcher, Sr., 85, of Frametown, West Virginia, formerly of Lorain, died on Monday, October 16, 2006 at his residence in Frametown, following a 28 month battle with cancer.


He was born November 26, 1920 in Gasaway, West Virignia, he came to Lorain in 1950, where he lived until moving back to West Virginia in 1992.


While living in Lorain,he worked for B & O Railroad for over 30 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of Bethel Chapel, Lorain.


He enjoyed working on cars, vegetable gardening, hunting and fishing.


Surviving is his wife: Ivola (nee Roberts)Vickers-Starcher, of West Virginia, son: Thomas C. Starcher, Jr. of Oberlin, a daughter: Patricia K. Rosso of Oberlin, step-sons: James Vickers, Jr. of Lorain and Henry Vickers of Napoleon, 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years: Geraldine in 1988, parents: Enoch & Mariam (nee Hughes) Starcher, step-sons: Larry Vickers in 2006 and Billy Vickers, brother: Roland Starcher, sisters: Vina Morrison and Maggie McElwayne; half brothers: Erman Hardway and Earl Hardway.


The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Lorri Bandagski, pastor of Bethel Chapel, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township, Ohio.
