Tim D. Burgett, Sr., age 54, of Elyria, died on Saturday, December 2, 2006, at Elyria Memorial Hospital, Elyria, after a lengthy illness.
He was born on November 2, 1952, in Freemont, Ohio, and had moved to Elyria shortly after his birth. He had been a resident of Elyria for most of his life. Tim was a 1965 graduate of Oberlin High School.
Tim was employed as an independent Truck Driver. He enjoyed going hunting and fishing, especially in Coshocton. Tim also enjoyed going for drives out in the country and visiting various flea markets. He truly enjoyed being with his grandchildren, and being a proud "family-man."
He is survived by his companion of 8 years, Audrey Swart, of Elyria, where they shared their home together, his daughters; Valerie Hart, of Elyria, Angela Marciano, of Tennessee, and Sherry Lynn Thompson, of Elyria, his step-daughter, Angela Peters, of Lorain, his son, Tim D. Burgett, Jr., his step-sons; Michael Strader, Jr., of Columbia Station, James Roush, of Lorain, and Elmer Swart, of Cleveland, 12 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, his brothers; Tom, Dwight, and Eddie, all of Lorain, and Val, of Sullivan, his sisters; Suzanne and Cathy, both of North Carolina, Beverly, of Huron, and Linda, of Lorain, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Patsy Colleen (nee; Vandersommen), on the same day that he passed, December 2, 1966, a sister, June Burgett, his uncle Jack and aunt Shirley, and a nephew, Mark Cruz.
The family will receive friends, by invitation only, on Wednesday, December 6, 2006, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, for a memorial service and gathering.
