Tomas Laureano, 94, of Lorain, died Sunday, November 21, 2004 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center West, Lorain, following a brief illness.
Born Dec. 29, 1909 in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, he has lived in Lorain since 1947.
He worked as a brick layer at Lorain Works US Steel for 27 years.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain, the Cursillo movement of the church, and the United Steel Workers Union Local 1104-Lorain.
He enjoyed gardening and walking.
Surviving is his son; Angel L. Laureano Sr. of Lorain, daughter; Carmen L. Velazquez of Lorain, 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, brothers; Rodolfo Laureano and Camilo Laureano both of San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, a sister; Flora Arroyo of San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico.
He was preceded in death by his wife; Jesusa (nee Barbosa) in 2000, parents; Justo Laureano and Tomasa (nee Gonzalez) Laureano, a brother; Eladio Laureano in 1997, and sisters; Fortuna Perez, Clara, Lorenza, Marcolina and Berth Laureano.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, and again on Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of mass at 9:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
