Tony Cordova Sr

May 17, 1918 — August 29, 2008

Tony Cordova, Sr. age 90, of Lorain, died on Friday, August 29, 2008 at his residence, following a brief illness.


He was born on May 17, 1918 in Garcia, New Mexico moving to Lorain in 1951.


He was employed at US Steel for 30 years as a rougher in the Rolling Mills Dept. retiring in 1980.


Tony was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel and also was a member of the United Steelworkers Union Local #1104.


Tony enjoyed wood-working and spending time with his children, grandchildren and family.


He is survived by his sons: Eloy Baca, Larry Cordova, both of Las Vegas, New Mexico and Anthony "Tony" J. Cordova, Jr. of Sandusky, daughters: Margaret Cordova, of Vermilion, Rose Cordova, of Lorain, Yolanda Collins, of Vermilion and Elizabeth "Lisa" Cordova, of Lorain, 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.


He was preceded in death in 1989 by his wife of 34 years: Alexandra (nee Mojica) Cordova, parents: Jose Antonio and Juanita (nee Vargas) Cordova.


The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 from 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be on Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. followed by a 9:30 a.m. mass at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
