Vada L. Phillips (nee Knight), 87, of Sheffield Lake, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2008 at Avon Oaks Nursing Home following a short illness.
Born Sept 25, 1921 in Garrison, PA; she has been a resident of Sheffield Lake since 1946.
Vada worked as the assistant store manager at Petri's in Elyria for 21 years, retiring in 1987. Prior to that, she worked as the fountain manager at Woolworth's in Sheffield Lake.
She was a member of Tower Baptist Church, Lorain and enjoyed reading and bowling.
Surviving are her children, Vicki Garner of Sheffield Lake, George and Richard both of Massillon; 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; and her brother, Glen Knight of Carmichael, PA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Phillips in 1970; a daughter, Linda S. Phillips in 2006; and her parents, John and Ina (nee Taylor) Thomas.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 to 9:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30. Rev. Gary Dorsey, pastor of Tower Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
