Venancio R. Rosa, 89, of Lorain, passed away Monday, January 19, 2015 at his residence while under the care of New Life Hospice following a lengthy illness.
Born April 9, 1925 in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, he came to Lorain in 1948.
He worked at Lorain Works US Steel where he was a group leader in the Rolling Mill retiring in 1978 after 38 years of service,
He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union Local 1104. He enjoyed gardening and loved watching baseball and his favorite team the Cleveland Indians.
Surviving is his son, Michael of Lorain; daughters, Linda Adkins of Lorain, and Valentina "Tina" Guevara of Houston, Texas; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; 2 brothers in Puerto Rico and a sister in Florida.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Gladys L. (nee Daniels) in 2012; parents, Severo and Valentina (nee Ramos) Rosa; a granddaughter, Regina A. Melendez in 2012; a great grandson, Marcus Melendez; 6 brothers and 2 sisters.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
