Vera Tkacs, (nee Gembka), age 95, of Elyria, died on Monday, June 27, 2005 at Elyria Methodist Village, following a short illness.
She was born on June 23, 1910 in Elyria, a former resident of Lorain, she has lived in Elyria for the past 5 years.
Vera was employed as a laborer at General Industries, American Lace Factory, Elyria and Perry Faye Company as an inspector.
She was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church.
She is survived by her daughters: Lillian Fildes, of Grafton, Dorothy Barnett, of Lubbock, Texas and Evelyn Webber, of Elyria, 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years: Michael Tkacs, died December 2, 1993, parents: Michael and Julianna (nee Boris) Gembka, sister: Josephine Shimkus, brother: Edward and grandson: Donald Webber.
The family will receive friends for visitation at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 2711 West 40th Street, Lorain on Friday, July 1, 2005 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Following the visitation, Divine Liturgy will begin in the church. Rev. Fr. Nicholas Rachford, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain is handling the arrangements.
