Vernon Strauss

Vernon F Strauss Jr passed away on Wednesday May 29th 2024. He was born on October 16th 1949 in Willard, Ohio. He lived in Vermilion for the past 47 years. 

Vernon Strauss was known as many things, a son, a brother, an uncle, a husband, a father, a father in law and a grandpa. He was an educator for nearly 40 years, serving his most time in the Vermilion School district. During his time in Vermilion he was a P.E teacher, a health teacher, a history teacher and a coach in Football, golf, middle school basketball and both girls and boys tennis. 

In his personal life he was married to his best friend and wife of 41 years Marie Strauss, who he met on a blind date. During those 41 years they had two sons, Michael and Brett Strauss. Both of his boys were lucky to have him as a coach, a teacher and most importantly, a Father and role model. Vernon is survived by his wife of 41 years Marie, sons Michael and Brett, granddaughters Emily and Lilah, daughter in-laws Regina and Stephanie. His sisters Claire Schade of Florida, Susan Watson of Texas, Jean Strauss of Texas and Linda Strauss of Willard and many nieces and nephews. 

Vernon was preceded in death by his Father Vernon F Strauss Sr. and mother Anna Pauline Strauss. Vernon lived from October 16th 1949-May 29th 2024, with his best Friend and wife by his side. He is remembered by those who knew him as a passionate, kind, caring, supportive and loving man. Vernon lived a life we all strive for. He inspired and spread love to so many. He is greatly missed and will be loved forever. 

There will be a celebration of life in his honor on Saturday August 3, 2024 at Amvets Post 22 in Vermilion of Ohio from 1 -5 p.m. There will be a mass at a later date. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Cleveland Clinic Hospice . Cleveland Clinic Philanthropy Institute, PO Box 931517, Cleveland, Ohio 44193 and make a donation in honor of Vern.
