Victor William Mihuta took his final flight on March 22, 2017. He was father to Brenda Ossovicki, Adam John, and Matthew David Mihuta; grandfather to six grandchildren.
He was born November 2, 1927 in Lorain, Ohio to the late John and Mary (nee Beka) Mihuta. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Gabriel and John Mihuta; sisters, Florence Tulock and Ann Jahnsz.
Victor enlisted in the US Air Force before his graduation, class of 1946, from Lorain High, but subsequently earned his diploma while in Service to his country. Victor was Tech Sargent, serving 8 years and was a part of the Berlin Air Lift for the Europe 14th Group and in Korea in the 39th Fighter Squadron. He served as Chairman for his 39th Squadron Reunion and in 2016 took the Honor Flight to Washington DC and was honored to place the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Victor loved his flying and for many years he flew the Lorain Memorial Day celebration and dropped the wreath at the Lofton Henderson Memorial Bridge, once having flown UNDER the bridge. Flying was not his only love for he skied, bowled in League and played Class B Softball.
Victor retired as Service Manager from Crestmont Cadillac in Cleveland, having started with Bob Beck Chevrolet in Lorain. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Master in Bedford, Ohio.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:00 am until the time of funeral services at 12:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Jimmy Madsen, pastor of First Lutheran Church, Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township. The Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20 will conduct military honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to First Lutheran Church, New Building Fund, 423 Washington Avenue, Lorain, Ohio, 44052.
