Victor Navarro, 90 of Lorain, died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Anchor Lodge Retirement Village, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.
Born January 4, 1921 in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, he came to Lorain in the early 1950's.
Victor worked in the Blast Furnace of Lorain Works US Steel for many years, retiring in 1974.
He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union Local 1104, and enjoyed gardening.
Surviving are his step sons, Alejandro "Alex" Soto of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Eduardo "Eddie" Soto of Euclid, Ohio; step daughters, Milagros "Millie" Soto and Magda "Margie" Soto-Rivera both of Lorain; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; a brother, Antonio Navarro of Farmington, Maine; and a sister, Reyes Navarro, of Yabucoa, Puerto Rico.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Carmen (nee Mendez) in 2007; parents, Julian and Nicolasa (nee Rodriguez) Navarro; brothers, Juan in 2005, Bautista, and Tomas; and a sister, Juanita.
Private services were held in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Mark Hebebrand, associate pastor of The House of Praise International Church, officiated. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
