Victor Rivera-Lamboy, age 74, of Lorain, died on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain, following a brief illness.
He was born on November 14, 1930 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, he moved to New York City in 1948 from Puerto Rico, and then moved to Lorain in 1952.
He was employed at the Ford Motor Company, Brookpark, OH, for 36 years, retiring in 1989.
Victor was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, where he was a also a member of the Cursillo Movement.
He was a union official for the United Auto Workers Union Local #1250 and a committee man for engine plant #1 between the years 1975-1977, he also was a founding member for the Puerto Rican Home, Lorain. Victor was also a community leader who was involved in the South Lorain Urban Renewal and enjoyed volunteering his time to the Neighborhood House in Lorain.
He enjoyed watching boxing on t.v., politics, going to flea markets with his wife, spending time with his family and traveling, especially going on cruises with his wife.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years: Natividad "Naty" (nee Pagan), sons: Victor Rivera, Jr. and Ramon "Ray" Rivera, both of Lorain, daughter: Francisca "Frances" Torres, of Miami Springs, Florida, 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, brothers: Abdon Rivera, Freddie Rivera and Luis Rivera, all of Puerto Rico, sister: Rosa Julia Rivera, of Puerto Rico.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Florencio and Francisca (nee Lamboy) Rivera, sister: Gomercinda Rivera, brother: Tono Rivera and granddaughter: Ivette J. Rivera.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 2-7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain, where a funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, will handle the arrangements.
