Victoria Ruiz, age 76, of Lorain, died on Wednesday, November 23, 2005, at Amherst Manor Retirement Community, after a long illness.

She was born on December 23, 1928 in Utuado, Puerto Rico, and moved to Lorain in 1950, where she has resided ever since.

Victoria was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain, and enjoyed crocheting and playing bingo.

She is survived by her 3 sons; Jose "Pepe" Manuel Jr., and Eliseo, both of Lorain, and William, of Amherst, her 9 daughters; Elsie Romero, Gladys Diaz, Judith Thomas, Maria Becker, Edith Diaz, Raquel Holland, all of Lorain, Blanca Carrero, of Methuen, Mass., Miriam Coon, of Amherst, Amelia Boyer, of Toledo, her 27 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 2 sisters; Adela Orama, of Puerto Rico and Alvilda "Awilda" Andujar, of Youngstown, and a brother, William Medina, of Puerto Rico.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Jose Manuel Ruiz, who died on October 4 of 2005, a daughter, Angelina Ruiz, who died in 1975, her parents; Amelia Ortiz and Manuel Medina, a baby brother, a brother Manuel "Nolo" Medina, and 2 sisters; Margarita Irizarry and Isabel Soto.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 28, at the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where services will be held at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday followed by a 9:30 a.m. mass at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. The Rev. Fr. Dennis St. Marie will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
