Vilma T. Smith

Vilma T. Smith (nee Rehoreg), age 90, of Sheffield Twp, died on Wednesday, December 14, 2011,at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.
She was born on November 28, 1921 in Sheffield Twp, where she lived her entire life. She was a founding member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, where she was a life-time member of the Altar & Rosary Society. She was very active in all of the fundraisers that the church held, volunteering her time and effort. She was also a member of the William Penn Association. Vilma helped roll bandages during WWII and was active with the Red Cross in Wellington, where she was a 5 gallon blood donor. Vilma enjoyed collecting dolls, baseball cards and loved flowers. She loved traveling all over the United States and Canada with her late husband and enjoyed bowling with the St. Vincent DePaul Ladies League. Above anything though, she lived for and adored her grandson.
She is survived by her son-in-law, Richard Pozywak, of Elyria, grandson, Richard S. Pozywak, of Elyria, and her sister, Katherine "Katie" Dallos, of Sheffield.
Vilma was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, John P., in 1995, her daughter, Darlene Pozywak, in 1993, brothers; Steve and Louis, her sisters; Valeria Rehoreg and Barbara Arnoczky, and her parents; Stephen and Barbara (nee Bodnar) Rehoreg.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Dec. 16, from 9:00 am until the time of her Funeral Mass at 10:00 am, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 North Ridge Road, Elyria. Rev. Fr. James R. Ols, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain is handling the arrangements.
