Virgen Rivera DeLeon, (nee Rivera), of Lorain, died Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Lake Pointe Nursing Home, in Lorain, OH.
She was born Wednesday, January 4, 1933 in Orocovis, Puerto Rico. She came to Lorain in 1954.
Virgen worked at the St. Joseph Hospital in the Laundry Room for 8 years, retiring in 1990.
She enjoyed visiting nursing homes, and she loved to travel and loved children.
Surviving are her Sons, Nelson Rivera of Junction City, KS and Michael Rivera, of Amherst;3 grandsons; Matthew, of Kansas City, KS, Michael, of Junction City, KS, and Adel, of Las Vegas, NV; and a great-grandson, Wyatt, of Junction City, KS; Brother, Jose Rivera of Orocovis, PR; 3 Sisters, America Rivera of Coamo, PR, Leonidez Flores, NJ, Guillermina Ortiz of Orocovis, PR; Esmerida Mercado of Orocovis, PR.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gumercindo DeLeon; her father, Robustino Rivera and her mother, Indalesia Rivasand her sister, Mirna Ortiz and Olivia Ortiz and her dog, Ronchy.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 7, 2008 from 5-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be at 8:45 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain, OH .
