Virginia Cosme, (nee Cuevas), age 80, of Lorain, died on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at Towne Center, Avon Lake, following a lengthy illness.
She was born on February 15, 1928 in Santurce, Puerto Rico, she moved to Lorain in 1949, shortly after her husband came to Lorain to work at US Steel.
Virginia was employed as a housekeeper at St. Joseph Hospital for over 5 years and prior to this she was employed at Lorain Towel Supply Company.
She is survived by her sons: Hector "Barney", Ralph, Edwin, Edgar and Emmanuel Cosme, daughter: Myrna Lawrence, of Lorain, 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren, brothers: Bololo, Gilberto, of Florida and Pimpo Cuevas, sister: Carmen Alljende, of Puerto Rico.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Leopoldo Cosme in 1984; and daughter, Edna Cerchiai in 1984; and a sister, Monchita Cuevas.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am. at House of Praise International Church, 4321 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Mark Hebebrand, associate pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, is handling the arrangements.
