Virginia Mae Forbes, (nee Weaver), age 82, of Lorain, died on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.
She was born on December 14, 1923 in Carey, Ohio, moving to Lorain 75 years ago. She attended St. Joseph Elementary School in Lorain and graduated from Lorain High School in 1942B.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Lorain, Lakeland Women's Club and its Gourmet Department, Beaver Creek Boat Club and the Northern Chapter of the WWII Submarine Veterans Women's Auxiliary. She was a former member of Cosmopolitan Dance Club, Ohio Nomad Camping Group, and the Family Motor Coach Association.
She enjoyed sewing and crafts. Virginia was very active and instrumental with the Lorain Community Hospital Follies that raised money for the building of Lorain Community Hospital.
Virginia is survived by her husband of 62 years: David A. Forbes, son: Lawerance Forbes of Avon Lake, daughters: Claudia Csalos, of Lorain and Peggy Schulz, of Cincinnati, 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; and sister: Mildred Novak, of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Theresa (nee Kinn) Weaver, son: Kenneth in 1989 and brother: Russell Weaver.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where the Ladies Guild of St. Joseph Catholic Church will conduct a rosary at 3:30 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. followed by mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, W. 7th and Reid Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. Daniel O. Divis, pastor, will officiate.
