Virginia A. Groomes-Hessberger

Virginia A. Groomes-Hessberger (nee-Eiden), age 85, of Elyria, died Saturday, December 10, 2005 at the Elyria United Methodist Village, Elyria, following a brief illness.
She was born on April 24, 1920 in Lorain and had lived in Amherst and Tiffin, before moving back to this area 2 and a half years ago, residing in the Elyria United Methodist Village in Elyria.
She was a Lorain High School graduate and a graduate of the St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Lorain. She had worked at the Amherst Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse for a number of years, and had also been a Hospice volunteer here in this area and also while living in Tiffin.
She was a former-member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Amherst and was a member of the altar and rosary society of the church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by 2 sons- Michael Groomes and William Groomes, both of Elyria; 4 daughters- Christine Alarcon-Groomes of Amherst, Janelle Boerckel of Williamsport, PA, Mary Margaret Groomes of Lorain and Therese Ghousheh of North Olmsted; 16 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and her brother- Jerry Eiden of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her 1st husband- William Groomes; 2nd husband- Tom Hessberger; 1 sister- Mary Jane Hallgren; and 3 brothers- Richard Eiden, Jack Eiden and Jim Eiden; and her parents- Frank and Nellie (nee-Kirchner) Eiden.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 12, 2005 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
Memorial contributions if desired may be given to the Hope House at the Nord Center Mental Health Services.
