Wanda I. Torres

June 4, 1953 — July 5, 2013

Wanda I. Torres, (nee Santiago), age 60 of Lorain, known to her many friends as "The Quilter", stepped through the door of eternity, into glory, and into the loving outstretched arms of her Lord and Savior on July 5, 2013, at 4:48PM following a lengthy illness.
Wanda was a lifelong resident of Lorain and attended Admiral King and Southview High schools. She was a person of many gifts and talents and used them to minister to her family and countless friends. She was a member of the Church on the North Coast for 30 years and recently joined Freedom House Church. She truly loved the Lord and evidenced her great faith in the Him through the love with which she embraced anyone she met.
Wanda was a devoted homemaker, quilter, jewelry designer, a home decorator, child care provider, seamstress, Sunday School Teacher, and was a great wife. She also loved singing and was a talented accordion and tambourine player.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Saul A. Torres, of Lorain , father, Luis Santiago, of Tampa, FL, sons, Saul E. Torres, of Lorain, Ariel I. Torres, of Parma Heights, Gamaliel F. Torres, of NY, and daughter, Amarilis V. Torres, of Lorain, 6 grandchildren, brothers, Juan Santiago-Escobar, George Santiago, Caleb Santiago, and Seth Santiago, all of Florida, sisters, Gloria Santiago, of NY, Mercedes Navarro of PR, Rita Patterson of Canada, Blanca Acosta of Florida, and Pricila Gran of Cincinnati.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lydia Elsie Torres and brother, Luis Santiago.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 10th from 4-8 p.m. at Church on the North Coast , 4125 Leavitt Road , Lorain , where funeral services will take place on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. Pastor Louis Kayatin and Pastor Paul Gonzalez, will co-officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens.
In celebration of her life and personality, the family welcomes everyone to dress in an array of beautiful colors that represent her love for life and people everywhere.
