Werner " A.J." Jahnsz, age 78, of Lorain, died on Friday, September 2, 2005 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center - West.
He was born on June 30, 1927 in Lorain and has lived here his entire life.
He was a 1946 graduate of Lorain High School.
During the Korean Conflict he served in the United States Army in Germany.
He was employed as a craneman in the BOP Shop at the US Steel plant for 43 ½ years, retiring in 1987.
He was a member of the Tower Baptist Church, Lorain.
Werner enjoyed traveling all of the United States, Canada and Mexico, he also enjoyed fishing, camping and family time.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years: Ethel (nee Williams), sons: Gregory A. Heinzerling, of St. Louis, MO, Jeff Jahnsz, of Grafton, daughters: Pat L. Swagger, Mari Mason, Debra Murphy, all of Lorain, Nancy A. Gill, of Eaton Twp., Penny S. Duke, of Tampa, FL, 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, a sister: Judith Dlugos, of Sandusky.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Adolph and Hulda (nee Herzki), Jahnsz, son: Theodore Heinzerling, 3 sister: Hilda Kelner, Margaret Jahnsz, and Norma Jahnsz, 4 brothers: Alfred, Herbert, Irvin and Arthur Jahnsz.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 6, 2005 from 4-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Rev. Terry Brooks, pastor of Tower Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
